Among all the Islamic religious texts, the Quran is considered to be the most important. It is regarded by Muslims as the word of God and as proof of Muhammad’s prophethood. It contains religious beliefs, directives for its followers and historical accounts of certain prophets. The Quran was revealed to Muhammad over 23 years, and it is believed to be the direct speech of Allah. It has been a source of guidance for both believers and nonbelievers.
The Quran is divided into 114 “Surahs,” or chapters, and each is further divided into “Ayat,” or signs. Many of the early Quranic verses require believers to practice chasteness and forgiveness of sins. The book includes descriptions of eschatological judgment and a description of life after death.
The first revelations to Muhammad occurred in Mount Hira near Mecca. The angel Gabriel appeared to him and revealed a series of messages to him from 609 to 632 CE. When he was distressed at receiving the messages, he was consoled by Khadijah. He was then commanded to recite verses from later Quranic chapters.
The first copies of the manuscript were made by Zayd ibn Thabit, who then handed the book to the second caliph, ‘Umar. The manuscript was distributed to the main Muslim centers. The manuscript is at least 1,370 years old. It is now preserved in the Columbia University Library in the US.
It is believed that the Quran was compiled by hundreds of companions of Muhammad who memorized the entire book. It was handed down from generation to generation. A facsimile of the manuscript is available for viewing in the Columbia University Library in the USA.
The Quran is the final revelation of the messengers of God to mankind. It includes the teachings of some of the earlier messengers, including prophets like Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Moses. Other early messengers, such as Adam and Eve, are not mentioned in the Quran.
The Quran describes the total scheme of creation and how everything is placed within that scheme. It also emphasizes the theme of continuation. It teaches that obedience to God leads to paradise. It is the ultimate goal of life. It is full of ethical and metaphysical guidelines and scientific facts. It is also a guide to the utopian life. It contains no errors or contradictions.
The Quran is a complete guide for all who believe in it. It contains guidance on a variety of topics, including prayer, spending, and the unseen. It also contains arguments for accepting Muhammad as a prophet. It contains Divine truths and warnings for disbelievers.
In addition, the Quran contains descriptions of the resurrection of the dead, the existence of Hell, and other eschatological judgments. It also has promises for its followers. People are rewarded for obeying the Quran and reading it.
The Quran shares the same spiritual legacy as both Christianity and Judaism. It is a text that every non-Muslim should read. It is the only Quran that is written in Arabic.
