Production has officially commenced on the second season of “House of the Dragon”, the spin-off of the renowned HBO series “Game of Thrones”. According to Deadline, filming has begun at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden, located in the United Kingdom. Ryan Condal, who co-created the series, has expressed his enthusiasm for the new season and revealed that both returning and new cast and crew members are involved in the production.
Condal, who is also the showrunner and executive producer of “House of the Dragon”, stated, “We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera.” He also confirmed that viewers can expect to see all their favorite characters returning to the screen, conspiring at council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle.
In addition to this exciting news, HBO has released a first-look picture of the coveted Iron Throne, located in the Great Hall of the Red Keep, the home of the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. This image has heightened fans’ anticipation for the upcoming season, which is expected to be just as thrilling and engaging as the first.
The second season will consist of eight episodes, two less than the first season. However, fans can expect to see some of their favorite characters, including Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans, reprising their roles. Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham will also return to the show.
“House of the Dragon” is based on George R R Martin’s book “Fire & Blood”, which describes the history of House Targaryen set 200 years before the events depicted in “Game of Thrones”. Martin serves as the executive producer and co-creator of the series, along with Ryan Condal. Additionally, Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, and Vince Gerardis are executive producers on the show.
